Pre- Kindergarten

Dear Parents,

I hope your Thanksgiving was one full of love and peace.

Today, as re return to school, November 30we will begin preparations for the Advent Season.  Advent is the time before Christmas when we prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus.  We will be doing many activities together to prepare for Jesus.

1.     We will begin each week with a prayer and song as we light the Advent Wreath. We will make individual Advent Wreaths to count the weeks of preparation.  Each school day in Advent your child will come home with a small white circle to decorate and complete the suggested activity (Small Acts of Kindness).  Each day your child should  decorate and place the decorated circle  on  their personal tree  (attached to this letter) By the end of Advent the tree will be full of Small Acts of Kindness, their acts of kindness.

2.     We will gradually build and make a Nativity Scene.

3.        Each of us is a special gift from God and each of us have very special gifts to share with each other.  We will talk about our  gifts and the Greatest Gift of all.

4.     Our busy hands will be preparing many things for the birthday of Jesus.  We will use our hands to be helpful and kind, to give gentle hugs of  encouragement and to use gentle touches with our pre-school friends.  As we move through  Advent, we will add straw to the manger for the special times we have shared Small Acts of Kindness with the love of Jesus in our hearts..

5.     We will make and prepare gifts for the people close to our hearts and those who need our love and support.

6.        During this time of Advent we will celebrate a few Christmas customs of other cultures.  December 6 is the Feast of St. Nicholas.  We will celebrate this Feast December 2.  We will learn the story of the candy cane and how the children in Holland leave their shoes out in hopes of a special treat from St. Nick.  Ask your child about the wooden shoes the evening of December 6.

7.     We will prepare a Live Nativity for you and continue the tradition started by St. Francis many years ago.

8.     We will make and prepare a Pinata that we will share   If you would like to donate any treats to place in the Pinata  it would be appreciated.  Please, all treats must be wrapped.  Please contact the Room Moms

Please mark your Calendars Now for

Pre-K  “The Best Thing about Christmas” and “Live Nativity “

May each of your families have a peace filled Advent Season.
